As a kinesiologist and complementary medicine practitioner, I’ll be sharing my knowledge and use of the chakras through a seven-week course: ‘Align & Shine’. Each week, I will guide you through one of the seven major chakras as you explore the different elements of mind, body and soul.
Emotions
Attachment or Authenticity; which would you choose?
The authentic self communicates heart-centred desires or choices. These can feel in opposition with staying attached. So in order to stay attached (read ‘accepted, loved and/or safe), we are often faced with conflicting feelings— one from the heart and one from the brain-centred attachment system. This happens in little and big ways when we are quite young, for example— the desire to dress as a pirate for school which goes against the school uniform. As a primary schooler, I have a vivid memory of choosing to wear a bright red jumper and knee high socks to my school where everyone wore dark green and white. I look back and chuckle at how boldly I would have stood out on the playground. However, I was given space to be authentic. The very word ‘uniform’ describes the very tension between Self and Other and what Other is often asking of us— ‘having always the same form, manner, or degree : not varying or variable’
How Space Created A New Recipe For Life
It’s so easy to confine, resign or label yourself as made up of only certain elements. We give so much weight to thought and action. Thought is often noisy, if not troubled. Action becomes the means by which we judge ourselves and others. Thought fires off again and again and again and again, and then again and again and again and again, releasing thought-form from your body into the world. Action and judgement become entwined, creamed together like the sugar and butter of life as if without action, we are nothing. We forget to be still and allow ourselves to rise.

Unless you read up on the difference between menopause and perimenopause, or you have someone mention the term perimenopause to you, many women are left in the dark. “Wait — What? — Perimenopause?” Wondering what I’m talking about? Not sure if I mean irregular periods or foggy brain? Or is it…
What to do when you worry, worry, worry
We each have an immense capacity to love. At the very heart of who we are, despite the feeling that the world sometimes loses its way, we deeply care. From this sense of great care, what sometimes follows is worry. We care so much about family, we want them to be healthy. We care so…

Why Denial Is a Heavy Load to Bear
Every time you deny something you subsequently store it in your body and your energy system. Denial blocks your ability to potentially break those negative patterns in your life you wish would stop recurring. So how do you lighten the heavy weight of denial? I’ll give it to you straight up: be receptive! (I was apprehensive…
To Be or Not To Be The Ostrich; The Great Denial
Diary of a Flawed Healer Part II Some mornings I wake up and I want to bury my whole body in the sand. Be The Ostrich. I’m sure I can pull it off in spite of my short, stocky legs. Perhaps if I stay there long enough, the bad stuff will go away. Oh, symphony…
Making the imperfect, perfect
Diary of a Flawed Healer Part I We mustn’t shy away from the unpleasant discomfort that comes with facing what’s beneath our immeasurable pain: our health issues, our relationships, the way life is panning out for us or how we feel about ourselves and our imperfections. In too many instances we look for perfection, aspire…
