Collaboration within our community can only strengthen it further and I’m delighted to announce that I have teamed up with I Quit Sugar by joining their expert panel. Only good things can come from including a kinesiologist among a panel of such committed and knowledgeable professionals from a wide range of modalities!
Sugar is highly addictive and as a nation, indeed across many countries, sugar consumption is at an all time high. Research is revealing links to cardiovascular disease, weight gain, increased rate of ageing, mood change, memory and concentration troubles. In particular, fructose and refined sugar has made their way into commercial foods such as yoghurt, bread and sauces. When made at home or bought from companies using organic ingredients it is easy to see that high amounts of sugar is unnecessary. As for lovely fruits, there’s a reason why nutrition authorities recommend two pieces a day; fruit has many wonderful components that we need for health and well-being but there is a limit to how much your body can process at one time.
If you’re unfamiliar with I Quit Sugar then it’s time you got on board. It was founded by Sarah Wilson who decided to trial quitting sugar in hope to improve her health after struggling with Hashimoto’s, an auto-immune disease that effects the thyroid gland. With such positive results, Sarah is still leading the way for I Quit Sugar and spreading the word about why sugar is so damaging and how better off you are without it. I Quit Sugar offers you access to an eight week program to help you detox from sugar and get back on track with healthy consumption, meal plans, webinars, a blog with the latest information, recipes, a Facebook group, a panel of experts (!) and an online community to support you along the way. Sarah has also written several books on the topic. The next eight week program begins next Thursday June 5th!
I’ll be writing some articles about natural techniques to help you beat sugar cravings and rid yourself of sugar addiction. As always, I will be drawing on the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chakras and other complementary medicine practices. If you struggle with any addiction or food craving, then watch this space! If you want to kick start the healing process, come and see me at Live Well Spa & Wellness Centre in Manuka – to book in call 02 6295 0400.
